Real Life Style and DC Style Factory, two of D.C.’s premier fashion styling firms, have joined forces to create The Stylist Studio. This two-day intensive, interactive training program teaches up-and-coming personal stylists how to succeed in the business.
This professional development program equips aspiring personal stylists with the skills to work one-on-one with clients.
Real Life Style founder Lani Inlander and DC Style Factory founder Rosana Vollmerhausen have a combined 30 years of experience in fashion and personal styling, helping hundreds of clients in D.C., New York and across the country look their best. These women have each overcome challenges to create their own personal styling businesses and are now recognized as DC’s best.
After years of requests for guidance on how to become a personal stylist, Lani and Rosana developed this training program. The Stylist Studio was created to help the scores of men and women seeking to follow in their footsteps, and become successful personal stylists and image consultants.
Student stylists receive hands-on training from Lani and Rosana at Betsy Fisher and Neiman Marcus Mazza Gallerie, providing access to top designers and relationships with two of D.C.’s leading retailers.
The Stylist Studio’s Introductory Workshop consists of two modules to help you become a personal stylist: Personal Styling and The Client Relationship and The Business of Personal Styling: Entrepreneurship 101. Trainees also receive business development basics.
- Should you form an LLC or sole proprietorship?
- How do you develop your services and reputation?
- How do you identify and connect with your ideal client?
- How do you market your services?
- How much should you charge?
Lani and Rosana share their insights and personal experiences with program participants on these topics and more.
As part of the training, students receive The Stylist Studio training manual, which gives program graduates a reference guide to move forward towards pursuing a career in personal styling and image consulting.
“Thank you for such a great weekend. The training was so well done — it exceeded my expectations for sure. It provided us with the theory and “rules,” but also touched on many of the intangibles that, like in most industries, are really the differentiators and separate the good from the great.”
